Rock giants returned to the stage last night at this year's Download festival, with Black Sabbath and Soundgarden closing the 2012 Donnington event.

Ozzy Osbourne took to the stage alongside Tommy Iommi, Geezer Butler and Tommy Clufetos to close the festival, with only drummer Bill Ward not joining the rock legends after a disagreement over payment and scheduling earlier this year.

The band's setlist containede hits including 'War Pigs', 'Paranoid' and 'Sweet Leaf'.

They shared the stage with Seattle rockers Soundgarden, who performed their first UK show in 15 years at Download, including track such as 'Spoonman', 'Black Hole Sun' and 'Rusty Cage'. The band's frontman Chris Cornell spoke of his excitement at performing at the event ahead of his band's Sunday show.

"If you're in a rock band or you're a fan, it's pretty well documented as being the big hard rock festival worldwide. It's the one," he said before the festival.

"I played Download three years ago on a solo tour and it was great. It stood out as being one of the best festival shows I'd had, certainly that year."
