New TV figures reveal that The Voice is the most successful BBC show to launch in a decade - despite the failure of winner Leanne Mitchell to make the charts with her debut release, 'Run To You'.
The show averaged viewers of 9.2million per episode, thanks to strong figures for the first few shows of the series. These are the strongest the channel has managed since new research methods were introduced in 2001.
"The Voice has broken all records for a new entertainment show on the BBC," says BBC boss Danny Cohen. "There are also inevitably things you learn in the first series of a big new show, and we are confident that The Voice will return even stronger next year."
He gave no indication as to which judges will return for the second series, with Jessie J seeming unlikely to return after her 2013 Arena tour was scheduled to clash with the auditions for the second series.
