September's first live tour from finalists of the first ever season of The Voice has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales, following recent rumours they were struggling to sell.

Ticket holders have been promised a full refund after breaking the news of the cancellation on the Live Nation website. The series struggled to make an impact in the ratings, despite claims by producers since the end of the show that The Voice gave the BBC their biggest saturday night figures in a decade.

"The Voice has broken all records for a new entertainment show on the BBC," said BBC boss Danny Cohen, confident in the show's success. "There are also inevitably things you learn in the first series of a big new show, and we are confident that The Voice will return even stronger next year."

Winner of the show Leanne Mitchell also failed to reach the Top 40 with her track, 'Run To You'.

The BBC have confirmed plans for a second series, promising it will be bigger and better than the first - but whether there will be plans for a live tour is uncertain.

The live tour was due to call at Bournemouth, , Cardiff, London, Brighton, Birmingham, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield.
