Will.i.am has donated all of his earnings from The Voice, believed to be around half a million pounds, to the Princes Trust charity.

The Black Eyed Peas star decided to make the donation after becoming enamoured with the UK and the people he met whilst working here.

Speaking to The Sun, Will said: “The people of the UK welcomed me into their homes every week and I wanted to give something back.

“I called my manager and said, ‘What can I do with the money that I’m getting for The Voice? I don’t need it’. It’s the least I could do — the show changed my life.”

The decision to pay Will.i.am such a high fee for his time on The Voice was previously criticised with many people believing that the TV license could have been put to better use. Meanwhile, The Voice has run into further problems with the news that the finalists national tour has had to be cancelled following low ticket sales and a general lack of interest.
