Welsh indie stars the Manic Street Preachers have shown their support for the Stone Roses reunion, claiming they deserve every penny they earn on their comeback tour, comparing them to footballers who never earned the money they deserved.

Speaking to Gigwise at the Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef lunch, James Dean Bradfield and Nicky Wire spoke of their admiration for the reformed Stone Roses, claiming their comeback is one of the best reunions of all time.

"I really am pleased for them. I'm thrilled because they are one of the greatest bands ever," Nicky Wire tells Gigwise. "Them and the [Sex] Pistols and Dexys [Midnight Runners] are the three reformations I really respect. There's a lot of people who just do it purely for the money but I think those three are amazing."

"If anyone's going to criticise them for earning that amount of money i'd just tell them they were talking absolute rubbish," added James Dean Bradfield. "For me the Roses just feel like those classic footballers that didn't make as much money as other people. They're like Kevin Keegan. It feels like they're making the money that they always deserved. I'm dead happy for them."

However, when asked whether they would join the likes of Beady Eye and The Vaccines in a support slot at the show, Nicky Wire said: "Oh no, but i'd have liked to have watched it."
