The song Elbow have written for the Olympics was revealed last night, appearing in a new animated advert for the BBC's coverage of the London Games.

In the ad, Britain is depicted as a giant stadium with residents competing in sporting events around their every day surroundings with sprinters racing down pavements and swimmers battling against fishing boats.

This animated action is soundtracked by a majestic and grand sounding 'First Steps' by Elbow. The new single will be available to fans from July 27th, the day the Games kick off.

Speaking about Elbow's involvement in the Games, Guy Garvey said: "The Olympic Games is about the coming together of people to celebrate our best athletes and it was as important to have a sympathetic theme for the losers as it was for the winners."
