Right thinking stars the world over have take to Twitter to speak out in support of Frank Ocean, the Odd Future star who today revealed his first experience of love was with another man.
In a statement released today, Frank Ocean revealed his unrequited feelings for a friend, saying in a moving statement: "Most of the day I’d see him, and his smile. I’d hear his conversation and his silence until it was time to sleep. Sleep I would often share with him. By the time I realized I was in love, it was malignant. It was hopeless."
Now, music stars have taken to Twitter to share their own messages of support for the r&b/hip-hop star's brave statement.
Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters tweeted: "Go on frank ocean."
Ed Sheeran said simply, "big up frank ocean."
Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles added to the swell of online support, adding: "I salute you, brave soul. Independence Day."
UK star Speech Debelle commented: "Frank Ocean didn't "come out", he just let us in. Letting people in is what a true artist does. He is honest and brave."
Dance star Wynter Gordon said: "Proud of Frank Ocean and his new found independance . Hope we all find our own."
Scottish urban singer Yasmin tweeted: "frank ocean is the most incredible writer, not just in song.... such a brave and honest letter I hope he gets nothing but love and respect x"
Outspoken rapper Example chose to bring a Hollywood star into the equation, saying: "Respect to Frank Ocean. Just waiting for Tom Cruise to work out how to use NotePad now..."
Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz urged fans to: "be brave and real like frank ocean."
