Coachella festival will definitely go ahead in 2014 after a tax dispute was settled last night (5 July).
The festival organisers previously had concerns about the proposed tax and were considering skipping 2014 to continue in 2015 at a different location, as the tax would have raised ticket prices by $36.
Councillor Sam Torres, who originally proposed the tax, has now backed down.
Torres stated in a press release: “I don't take a threat from Paul Tollett lightly. I cannot in good conscience allow this to happen no matter how dire the city’s circumstance. My sincere hope is that we can now move past this episode and I personally look forward to working to enhance relationships.”
Coachella will take place in 2013 in its usual site also.
