The Stone Roses and Liam Gallagher have paid tribute to Chris Brahney, the 22-year-old who went missing after The Roses' Heaton Park gig on 29 June and whose body was found in Manchester yesterday.
Brahney went missing for nine days after attending The Stone Roses gig in Heaton Park, Manchester on June 29th. His body was discovered in a canal in Salford on Monday, July 9th.
In a statement issued earlier today, The Stone Roses said: “We’d like to extend our sincerest condolences to Christopher’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly sad time.”
Roses bassist Mani posted a message on the Manchester Evening News website under his real name, Gary Mounfield.
“Love, strength and peace to the Brahney family from all the Stone Roses and their families," he wrote. “We were all hoping for a better ending to this situation,we are truly devastated today. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time.”
Meanwhile, Beady Eye frontman Liam Gallagher took to Twitter, writing: “My thoughts are with Christopher Brahney’s family and friends LG”
Primal Scream, The View and The Courteeners have all posted their own tributes to Brahney in the last 24 hours.
