LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy has spoken out about his regrets on discontinuing the band.

'Shut Up and Play the Hits', a documentary that charts the last days of the band including the sold out Madison Square Garden gig is due for release on Wednesday.

Speaking to The Washington Post, Murphy said: "I don't know if it's a good decision, and, at times, I wish I wasn't retired. It's a rare thing when a band stops playing together when everybody still loves each other and everythings's fine. So it wasn't like, 'oh, we have creative differences and we want to move on.'"

However, he went on to add that although he regretted it in the sense that he was close friends with the other members, it was the best thing to do as "it wasn't sustainable. For anybody."

Murphy recently appeared on American TV show Fallon, where he said: "We'd always planned for it to be a short term thing."

'Shut Up and Play the Hits is due to be shown publicly for one night only on the 18th July. It will subsequently be released on digital and physical formats.
