Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’ makes fans proud to be British and has been voted as the song which makes residents in the UK fel most patriotic.

A survey carried out by the Lucky Voice website asked users which songs made them feel the most patriotic and the Queen hit topped the poll, gaining 13,000 votes.

‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis was at number two, with 11,000 votes, and then The Beatles’ ‘Let It Be’ followed close behind with 10,000 more votes.

The top five also included Elton John’s ‘Candle in the Wind’ and The Clash’s ‘London Calling.’

100,000 music fans took part in the survey and Nick Thistleton, the managing director of Lucky Voice, said he was surprised at how many people opted for a ballad over a rock anthem.

He added: “It seems the great British public are quite a sentimental crowd, with so many people opting for solid ballads over rock anthems. But you can't beat the feel good factor of We Are the Champions - especially when sung with your mates at high volume.

“We need all the help we can get this summer to give the UK a massive boost and we urge everyone out there to get into the patriotic spirit, show their support and help by singing our way to success.”
