Facebook poll hijack sends Pitbull to depths of Alaska

Pitbull has become the victim of online pranksters, who hijacked a vote for the singer to perform at the most voted-for Walmart branch - resulting in a gig booking in a remote Alaskan store.

Pitbull will perform in the town of Kodiak after the town proved most popular in a recent poll, which has a population of little over 6,000 people. However, an unruffled Pitbull hit back at pranksters, saying he would go 'anywhere' for his fans.

"I heard that Kodiak, Alaska, has the most likes due to someone that thinks he was playing a prank," said the star in a YouTube video.

"You gotta understand, I will go anywhere in the world for my fans... I want to invite that someone who thinks that it's a joke to Kodiak, Alaska, with me."

The online campaign was started by comedy website Something Awful.

Kodiak is known for its fishing industry and wildlife - including bears, elk, deer and mountain goats.
