The shortlist for Canada's album of the year Polaris Music Prize has been announced.
The Polaris Music Prize is Canada's biggest music award and the winner gains $30,000. Polaris is Canada's equivalent of the UK's Mercury Award.
2012's shortlist includes Grimes, Japandroids and Drake and the winner will be revealed on September 24 at the Polaris gala.
Last year The Arcade Fire won with their album 'The Suburbs.'
