Liam Gallagher has poked fun at brother Noel and his upcoming US tour alongside 'Snore Patrol'.

The tour, due to take place later this year, will see Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds share a bill with Gary Lightbody's band.

Beady Eye frontman Liam is clearly not hammering the ticket sites to get his seat however, posting a mocking Tweet on Twitter calling the often boring Snow Patrol 'Snore Patrol'.

"Snore patrol Noel Gallaghers high flying smurfs who said rock n roll is dead LG," he Tweeted late last night (July 19).

Meanwhile, it has today been confirmed that Liam will perform the Oasis classic 'Wonderwall' at the Olympic Games closing ceremony next month.

Beady Eye are set to perform a brand new version of the track at the London 2012 closing ceremony, which has been produced by David Arnold - famous for his James Bond theme compositions.

Noel Gallagher was apparently approached first for the performance - but is said to have turned down the opportunity after mulling over the offer.

"A couple of months back the Olympic production team got in touch with Noel about playing his part in the closing ceremony," says a source to The Sun. "Along with his manager, they thought long and hard about it. It was a big temptation, with 650million people expected to tune in on TV.

"He knocked it back in the end — he has been on a great tour and he doesn’t really need to do it. The organisers asked Liam if he was game and he said yes. The Who are on the same bill, so he was well up for it.

"The team wanted something quintessentially British — a real flag-waving, singalong moment to show the rest of the world what this country has produced. Oasis were exactly that and, whether it’s Noel or his brother Liam, they just wanted a bit of rock ’n’ roll in there."

Liam will perform alongside The Who, Kaiser Chiefs, Take That, George Michael and Emeli Sande at the event.
