Elton John has revealed why he doesn't use Twitter - because he fears his big mouth would land him behind bars.

Anyone to have received a retweet from @EltonJohndotcom will be disappointed to learn that it didn't come from the man himself, because he believes his big mouth would cause him to get into big trouble on the social network.

"It would end my career. I'd be in prison after about two days," Elton tells The Sun newspaper. "I mean, no, God almighty. Me and my big mouth, no thank you. That would be the end of the career."

Twitter isn't the only element of modern musician life that Elton is avoiding - he also reveals he will never record a dance record - despite heading to No.1 this week in the UK album chart with a collection of remixes by Australian dance band Pnau.

"You won't see me doing a disco record or a dance record or anything like that, because I don't know how," he adds. "I'm technically a Luddite. I have an iPad but I don't have a phone. I'm not great on a computer, I don't even have one."

Elton John and Pnau's album, 'Good Morning To The Night' is out now.
