2011 X Factor favourite (with the audience - not the judges, it seemed) Jade Richards has returned to audition for the 2012 series - along with several other familiar faces from previous series'.

Tattooed Richards, who made 2011 X Factor judge Kelly Rowland cry with her performance of Adele's 'Someone Like You', was eventually kicked out of last year's show by the Destiny's Child star. Now she is back for another attempt - and hopes to reach the final of this year's show.

Joining Jade among the contestants hoping to better their 2011 performances are Carolynne Poole, Joe Cox, Melanie McCabe and Sian Phillips.

Phillips, another former fan favourite, was kicked out of the show when she was refused a US visa when it was revealed she had spent time in jail for a drunken brawl.

"There are a lot of familiar faces but they all deserve to be here. Everyone will be thrilled to see Jade back. If she makes it to the live shows she’ll have loads of support," says a source to The Sun newspaper. "It would be silly to say no to such talent just because they’ve been on before, even if it does run the risk of being a bit repetitive.

"The known acts aren’t getting any special treatment but if they impress they will go through to judges’ houses again."

The show recently revealed a cruel twist at its 'bootcamp' stages, kicking out a number of contestants before they had even had the opportunity to sing for the judges. See photos of those eliminated early, below.
