Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has posted a song he wrote for baseball player Ichiro Suzuki online.

The track, titled 'Ichiro's Theme', was written a few years ago with Gibbard deciding to share the song after Suzuki was transferred from Seattle Mariners to the New York Yankees yesterday (July 23).

As a huge fan of the Mariners, Gibbard explained he felt no ill will toward Suzuki.

Posting on Twitter, Gibbard wrote: “Totally okay with this trade. Thanks for your best years, Ichiro. We will always look back on them fondly. #Mariners #Ichiro I wrote this song a few years ago. Today seems like the best day to share it with you. Thank you so much, Ichiro.”

You can hear 'Ichiro's Theme' below. Ben Gibbard releases his first solo album, 'Former Lives', in October.
