Westminster council have again stepped in to dictate proceedings at an open air gig in Hyde Park, this time it’s the Olympic Torch Relay Finale concert.

A concert to mark the end of the Olympic Torch Relay will take place on Thursday (July 26) in Hyde Park, however much like they did with Hard Rock Calling’s Bruce Springsteen concert, Westminster council have forced the event to be altered due to time restrictions.

Little Comets were set to perform live at the concert, however this afternoon they announced via Twitter that this will no longer take place. Instead, they will perform an acoustic set elsewhere to a camera, and the video will be played on big screens at the concert.

Writing on Twitter, the band has said that they are “gutted to have to perform in front of a camera.”

Fans looking forward to Little Comets’ live set have taken to the social networking site to vent their disappointment, one fan wrote that the only reason they had bought tickets to the Coca Cola sponsored event was to see Little Comets.

A unique ‘jam-session’ at Hard Rock Calling between Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney was recently cut short by Westminster Council, stating that the switch-off was necessary in order to “comply with the licence” on live music in Hyde Park.

Westminster council has received much criticism for its actions, and both McCartney and Springsteen have publicly mocked the bizarre event in some form.

80,000 people are expected to attend the event featuring Mark Ronson, Wretch 32 and Dizzee Rascal.
