Hyde Park have extended their curfew until 1am for BT London Live Olympic festival tonight (27 July).
The news comes after the recent controversy over Bruce Springsteen’s set being cut short at Hard Rock.
However, the council are sticking to their guns and insisting that the 1am curfew will not become a regular occurrence and is a one off for a special occasion.
Licensing chairman of Westminster council Audrey Lewis told the BBC: “The opening night of the Olympics is clearly an exceptional evening and the Hyde Park show on Friday is timed to run around the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
“It is not a case of a straightforward concert night at Hyde Park. We took that into consideration when granting the application. It is clearly different from commercial shows that run throughout other parts of the year.”
Duran Duran, Snow Patrol and Stereophonics are among some of the acts that will perform at the concert. It was mentioned previously that the gig had permission to carry on past midnight, but the 1am curfew has now been confirmed.
