This year's Underage Festival has been cancelled with organisers blaming the Olympic Games for their inability to succesfully go ahead with the event.

The festival, which was due to see the likes of Devlin, Jessie Ware and Pulled Apart By Horses perform on August 31, had already seen its usual date and venue moved from July to August and from Victoria Park to Shoreditch Park due to the Games.

Organisers claim this new site was not able to sufficiently provide them with the environment for carrying out the festival as usual. A statement issued with the cancellation news reads:

"Despite a positive start to the site move from Victoria Park and repeated assurances that production levels would be suitable for a festival of this kind, we now find ourselves in a situation where we have no choice but to cancel the event."

Continuing: "Unforeseen circumstances with our site hire contract mean we are no longer able to meet production levels and we do not want to risk the safety and smooth running of an event for 13-18 year olds."

Full refunds will be available for all ticketholders and will be made at the point of purchase. The festival is promising to be back in 2013 in its usual site of Victoria Park.
