Pink Floyd have issued a statement denying a performance at next week's closing ceremony at the London Olympic games, following recent comments by Ed Sheeran, who said he would perform with the band at the event.
It was reported yesterday that Sheeran would join Pink Floyd for a performance of 'Wish You Were Here' at next week's closing ceremony at London 2012, with 'The A Team' star telling Australian radio about the performance.
"I'm playing the closing ceremony - which I think is kinda cool right," he said to Nova. "A lot of people think that I'm doing a song with The Who but I'm not - I'm doing a song with Pink Floyd. I'm doing 'Wish You Were Here'."
Sheeran did clarify that not all remaining members of Pink Floyd would be on stage with him but that drummer Nick Mason was confirmed to appear.
Pink Floyd issued the following statement denying the full band's involvement:
"In response to press speculation, Pink Floyd state that the band is NOT performing at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games."
