Dr Dre is to act as executive producer on a new TV series for US network FX which covers the links between the crime and music world's in Los Angeles.

The rapper, who has no previous experience in TV, will oversee the production of the programme.

Sidney Quashie will write the currently untitled show and will also exec produce alongside Dre, Brad Bertner and Daniel Schnider from Dre's company Crucial TV.

Executive producing a US TV show is unlikely to see Dre's long awaited 'Detox' album arriving with fans any time though Dre has worked with 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Rick Ross already in 2012.

Meanwhile, Dre ensured that Team GB looked their best at the Olympics by donating a batch of his Beats headphones to the athletes prior to the London games kicking off.
