Muse have confirmed that they will be playing at the Olympics closing ceremony on 12 August, 2012.
The band are to play their song ‘Survival’ at the event on Sunday, which is the official song of the Olympics.
Drummer Dom Howard told NME: “I'm happy with the song. It's a proper Muse song.
“It's not something we did for the Olympics. They sowed a seed by asking us to do some music but then five months went by. We showed them a few songs when they asked us about [playing the] closing ceremony and they loved it. It represented the enormous competition of what the Olympics is.”
The line-up for the closing ceremony is still vague, with only a few acts having been confirmed.
Ed Sheeran and George Michael have both confirmed that they will be performing, but One Direction, The Who, Kate Bush and Spice Girls are also all rumoured to be taking part.
Muse are set to release their new album 'The 2nd Law' on October 1.
