Rihanna has spoken out her feelings for Chris Brown in the aftermath of his assault on her, saying she was concerned for how he would be portrayed.
The 'Where Have You Been' star said that she was worried that Chris Brown would be seen as a 'monster' after the attack in 2009, and that it was a 'confusing' time, as she felt her then boyfriend 'needed help'.
"As angry as I was - as angry and hurt and betrayed - I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help," she told Oprah Winfrey. "And who's going to help him? Nobody's going to say he needs help, everybody's going to say he's a monster, without looking at the source. And I was more concerned about him."
Because of the incident, Chris Brown was convicted of battery, and forced to serve 80 hours of community service, along with other punishments including five years probation.
Rihanna's album 'Talk That Talk' recently topped the UK album charts, however it did so with under 10,000 sales, making it the lowest selling number one 'since records began'.
