A magazine cover showing Azealia Banks smoking a cigar wrapped in a condom has been banned in seven countries around the world.

The September issue of Dazed & Confused sees '212' star Banks as its cover star with the controversial image shot by photographer Rankin.

The issue has been outlawed from Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Switzerland, India and potentially Thailand. It was initially banned in Malta but the head of the magazine's distribution company in that country apolgised and said the ban was a mistake.

Speaking to the Evening Standard magazine about the ban, Dazed editor Rod Stanley said: Azealia liked it, and we thought it would be fun and suited her because she's a strong, provocative character. I knew this cover would be talked about, but didn't expect a confident, young woman posing with an inflated condom to cause this much fuss.

"It's funny that in a world where extreme images are so accessible, someone posing with something that is used for safe sex is what we get worked up about."

Meanwhile, Azealia (who releases her debut album later this year) has posted the video to her track 'Van Vogue' online. Check it out below.
