Porter Robinson, the latest EDM star to take the UK charts by storm, has revealed that he declined the opportunity to work with Katy Perry on new music.
The producer, whose new single 'Language' is due to chart inside the top ten this coming weekend, was contacted about working with 'California Gurls' star Katy, but said no on artistic grounds.
“I’ve had offers from a bunch of triple-A pop acts like Katy Perry to work with them, but I’m not interested.," he told the Daily Star.
Adding: “It’s a surefire way of damaging your credibility and I just don’t think it’s inspiring. I want to make stuff that I enjoy so I won’t produce anyone else, for now.”
Robinson went on to talk about his desire to keep evolving, stating that he will never stagnate.
“The next record will be different. Stagnation is the enemy and getting pigeon-holed is one of the worse things that can happen to a DJ. " Adding: "It can turn you into not a one-hit wonder but a four-hit wonder. There’s no art in making the same song four times.”
