Tom Morello has penned a lengthy response to claims made by US politician Paul Ryan that his favourite band are Rage Against The Machine.
The Rage frontman claims the Republican politician is the 'embodiment' of everything Rage Against The Machine stand against, and his lengthy response was published in America's Rolling Stone magazine.
"Paul Ryan's love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades," Writes Morello. "Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn't understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn't understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine."
Morello then explains the sentiments behind Rage Against The Machine tracks, and questions which Rage song is Ryan's favourite.
"Is it the one where we condemn the genocide of Native Americans? The one lambasting American imperialism? Our cover of "Fuck the Police"? Or is it the one where we call on the people to seize the means of production? So many excellent choices to jam out to at Young Republican meetings!" He adds.
Morello claims Ryan has rage issues himself - but against women, immigrants, workers, gays, the poor and the environment, and slams the politician for his personal wealth. He also urges the senator to fill Guantanamo Bay with corporate criminals.
