Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has revealed that U2 have played a big role in shaping the sound of new album 'The 2nd Law'.

Bellamy, who last week revealed that he recorded his baby son's heartbeat to incorporate on a new song, revealed in an interview with Classic Rock magazine that U2's 1992 album 'Achtung Baby' was a big influence on his new music.

"We toured with U2 last year in South America. And there's definitely a little bit of influence come on to this album, a little bit of 'Achtung Baby' here and there," said Bellamy.

Bellamy has previously hinted that Batman film composer Hans Zimmerman has also influenced the band's new material.

"He's the greatest film composer of recent times. That song 'The 2nd Law', you can definitely hear some Hans Zimmer influence."

Hans Zimmer has worked on over 100 film scores, including Inception, Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Muse have also discussed the influence of dubstep titans such as Skrillex on their new music, revealing the song 'Unsustainable' last week which features a huge electronic sound.

The band also appeared at the Olympic Games closing ceremony, spending the night partying with Liam Gallagher and The Spice Girls.
