One Direction have been confirmed to perform at BBC Radio 1's Teen Awards this October.

The awards show, which rewards real life teenagers who have achieved outstand things in their lives, will also see a performance by US superstar Taylor Swift, who last week went straight to number one in 25 countries with her new single 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together'

Radio 1's new Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw will host the awards when they take place at Wembley Arena on October 7th.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, One Direction's Harry Styles said: "Obviously we played there last year and to be headlining will be a lot of fun."

His bandmate Niall Horan added: "It was so much fun last year and it's a great lineup.

"It's always good to be on a great bill. And obviously with the teen hero award, it's an award for people who have done amazing things, obviously it's great to be part of that as well."

Little Mix and Conor Maynard will also perform at the awards, which were started by Radio 1 in 2011.
