Kings Of Leon bassist Jared Followill has started a new side project with Nick Brown of Mona under the name of Smoke & Jackal.

The duo will release an EP in October and debuted their first song, 'No Tell', on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show last night (Aug 22). The pair claim to be influenced by 'multiple bottles of red wine and a shared fascination with timbre, rhythm, and aural adventure'.

Chatting about his work on 'EP1', due for release on October 15th, Jared says: “Coming together just worked. I think it’s because we took such an easy approach to it, we didn’t bring any egos to it.  We just talked about each other’s ideas, neither one of us got our feelings hurt.  It just worked.”

Kings of Leon are currently on a break between albums with both frontman Caleb and drummer Nathan becoming fathers. Speaking to Zane Lowe, Jared confirmed the band are currently in LA working on new songs.
