Fightstar and former Busted singer Charlie Simpson has revealed plans to attempt to break the record for the world's coldest gig in November.
The singer will try to enter the Guinness Book Of World Records by performing in the Russian town of Oymyakon in Siberia, where temperatures often drop as low as -40 degrees.
With a population of only 472, the town has no running water or electricity and is too cold for mobile phones to work.
The temperature is so cold that boiling water can turn into ice in less than five seconds, but if Simpson successfully performs in the town he will become a world record holder.
"The gig is by far one of the biggest challenges of my career, but I’m really excited to get out there and see a part of our planet that very few people will ever get to visit," the singer told NME.
"It’s not really an option to play my guitar wearing gloves, so I just hope my fingers don’t freeze," he added.
Simpson has also just finished working on an instrumental film score for British comedy Everyone's Going To Die, which is due to come out later this year.
Simpson's debut solo LP 'Young Pilgrim' was released last summer, featuring a more low-key sound than in his rock-leaning band Fightstar, who released their third album 'Be Human' in 2009.
Simpson recorded an exclusive live session for Gigwise in March, which can be watched below.
