Thursday, 23 August: Last night, US punk rockers Green Day performed live in Shepherds Bush ahead of this weekend's 'surprise' performance at Reading Festival.

The band announced their appearance at the festival on Radio One on Wednesday of this week, after the similarly sudden announcement of their Shepherds Bush show - with tickets only on sale for two days ahead of the show.

The band performed new tracks from upcoming album Uno! to the 2,000 fans at the show such as 'Kill The DJ' and 'Oh Love', alongside Green Day classics 'Minority' and 'Basket Case'.

During the show, Billie Joe Armstrong squirted the audience with a water pistol as they sweated in the packed West London venue. Earlier this week, Billie Joe told Zane Lowe on his Radio One show: "If there were ever any rumours that we were playing at Reading, I think playing Dookie from front to back would be a novel idea."
