Chad Kroeger has reportedly cemented his relationship with Avril Lavigne by handing her an engagement ring worth $350k.
The unlikely couple revealed their plans to marry earlier this week, shocking fans of both Nickelback and Lavigne.
US tabloids have done some digging into the huge ring Avril was seen sporting in the obligatory magazine interview the couple gave and determined that the 10 carat, pear-shaped diamond, which is set in platinum and surrounded by smaller diamonds, is worth the huge sum.
Of course, with the success of worldwide hit 'How You Remind Me', we're sure Kroeger's royalties will cover the bill comfortably.
The surprise union came about after the duo worked on new songs for Avril's new solo album, due for release next year.
Speaking to People magazine, a source said: "A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together."
It is reported that 'How You Remind Me' star Kroeger proposed on August 8, handing Avril a 14-carat diamond engagement ring. The families of both Chad and Avril "could not be more excited" according to People's source.
This will be Kroeger's first marriage but the second for Avril, who was married to Sum 41 singer Derryck Whibley from 2006-2009.
Earlier this week Nickelback hit the headlines when they revealed their brand new music video, starring Seinfeld actor Jason Alexander.
