Madness frontman Suggs has revealed that he only found out his Father was dead after looking it up on Wikipedia.

Suggs, frontman in the ska-pop band, had a distant relationship with his Father after he walked out on the family whe his son was just a toddler.

Years later the singer decided to start looking into his family tree and was drawing no conclusions after consulting records in the British Library. Then, a friend suggested he look himself up on Wikipedia and answers began to flow.

"I looked myself up and there it all was. It said my father had died in 1975, aged just 40," Suggs told The Daily Record.

Adding: "The thing is, this website knew more about my life than me and my whole family combined."

Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live's Richard Bacon on Thursday, Suggs added: "I had never really talked about him to my mum."

"It was just he didn't exist and what doesn't exist you don't really miss. Because I knew he was a heroin addict and I knew he ended up in an asylum, I presumed he died as soon as he'd left us. But it turned out he died 11 years later."

Madness recently performed at V Festival where they were joined on stage by X Factor host Olly Murs. The festival was, however, marred when Cher Lloyd was bottled off the stage and left in tears.
