Noisettes stars Shinghai Shoniwa and Dan Smith have claimed that The X Factor has 'run its course'.

The band, who released new album Contact' this week (Aug 27), spoke exclusively to Gigwise about their feelings on the beleaguered reality TV show, stating that they feel the show has come to the end of its dominance in the UK.

"I think it's probably gone too far, I'm sure it will change at some point, but it'll just run its course, then something else will emerge and everyone will love that," Smith said.

Shinghai concurred, adding: "I don't think that letting someone go up and be judged is the best way of of bringing out their talents. For some people it works, but we haven't seen anyone yet that seems to have a career that they're enjoying, or any longevity."

"One bad thing is that the careers of the people who do these shows is kind of controlled by the people that allowed them to be on the show, and allowed them to be judged by millions of others. I think it brings out a judgmental cynicism in the public, and it means they're not open minded when they go out and buy music."
