Diplo has said that rock music is dead and that all of the great rock stars have died out and lamenting a lack of experimentation in the alternative music scene.

The producer, who is behind hits for everyone from Beyonce to Justin Bieber, spoke to The Daily Star about his move into the pop world and how he feels rock is no longer in a healthy state.

"Rock stars are dead.," he told the paper. Adding: “Other than Jack White and Bon Iver, there’s nobody out there with that attitude to just do what they want.

“I hope that changes, because pop is so dominant and you don’t get the same degree of artistry in pop music.  You get great pop songs, but less risk taking.”

Diplo, who will release a new Major Lazer album in November, also revealed yet another star he has worked with on new material, Tinie Tempah. Chatting about the UK rapper's new music, Dilpo revealed how the collaboration came together.

“Rather than go through his management, Tinie reached out to me directly, which I really respected. "

Adding: “We’ve been going back and forth on our tracks, but they sound in the vein of the rap stuff I’ve previously produced – hard and heavy and electronic.”

Diplo previously revealed that the new Major Lazer album will feature collaborations from Vampire Weekend, Bruno Mars and many more.
