More about: Robbie Williams
Robbie Williams may have quit Take That, but his ties with the band remain, as his new single 'Candy' is a collaboration with boyband co-star, Gary Barlow.
The track will be released in October 2012, and is the first to be taken from his ninth studio album, Take The Crown.
"Some songs take an age to write and some songs just fall out of your mouth completely formed, and you don't have to think about it," said Robbie as he announced the new single. "I don't know why that fell out of my mouth and out of my brain at that particular time - it just did."
Robbie has promised his new album will be 'massive', and has revealed he considers his stint with Take That nothing more than a 'break' from his own, mostly successful, solo career.
"After the Take That reunion - a busman's holiday, a break from my career which re-energised me in many, many ways - I wanted to come back with a massive solo album."
Robbie Williams today revealed the album artwork and tracklisting for Take The Crown which features a gold cast of Williams head set on a striking blue background. Songs on the album include 'Be A Boy' 'Sh*t On The Radio' and a duet with singer-songwriter Lissie titled 'Losers'.
Robbie will warm up for his latest album release by playing a series of tiny gigs later this month. Gigs Williams will play are:
Leeds Academy (11 September)
Glasgow Barrowlands (12 September)
Dublin O2 Arena (14 September 14)
Southend Cliffs Pavilion (16 September)
