Green Day have spoken about frontman Billy Joe Armstrong's recent illness which forced them to cancel a show in Italy on Sunday (2 September).
Bassist Mike Dirnt has revealed that Armstrong was rushed to hospital after vomiting constantly and was found to be suffering from severe dehydration and flu.
Speaking to MTV News, Dirnt said of his bandmate and the show cancellation: "It's hard to sing while you're puking."
"Billie came down with heavy, heavy dehydration; it was like severe dehydration, influenza, and it was just a really, really bad situation."
He continued: "He woke up in the morning and it was bad. Let's put it this way, if you're in your hotel room and you're vomiting profusely, it's not fun. So what are you gonna do? It's hard to sing while you're puking."
But the bassist said the band would reschedule the cancelled show as soon as they could, as they had only ever missed five shows in their whole career.
"We're going to make our way back to Bologna and play that show ASAP," said the bassist. "We don't miss many shows; we've maybe missed five shows out of our entire career and we pride ourselves on that, but we're human."
Green Day recently revealed the video to their new single 'Kill The DJ', which can be viewed below.
The track is taken from Green Day's forthcoming album 'Uno!', the first of three Green Day albums to be released in the next six months.
