Coldplay set for huge chart boost following Paralympic appearance

Coldplay look set to dominate the Official UK Singles and Albums Chart this weekend with all five of their albums seeing an increase in sales following the band's appearance at the Paralympic Games closing ceremony on Sunday (Sept 9).

Official Charts Company’s sales data shows that the band, who were joined on stage by Jay-Z and Rihanna inside the Olympic Stadium, currently have nine tracks in the Official Singles Chart midweek Top 100 and all five of their studio albums are also in the Official Albums Chart midweek Top 100.

'Mylo Xyloto', Coldplay's most recent album, is currently sitting at No. 6, having climbed 14 places since last week. Meanwhile, 2005’s X&Y is up 131 places from No. 194 to No. 63, and Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends climbs 138 places from No. 186 to 48.
 
Elsewhere, A Rush Of Blood To The Head  and debut album Parachutescan be found at No. 53 and No. 61, respectively.
 
The Rihanna-featuring Princess Of China is due the highest leap in the Official Singles Chart going from No. 51 to 29, while fellow 'Mylo Xyloto' track Paradise is up 52 places from No. 92 to No. 40.
 
Other songs played on the night and set to re-enter the Official Singles Chart include Yellow (58), The Scientist (60), Charlie Brown, (87), Clocks (91) and Every Tear Is A Waterfall which is at 93.
