The Killers have revealed that Sir Elton John helped inspire them to write new song 'Miss Atomic Bomb' from their new album 'Battle Born'.

The song, which will be released when the album comes out on Monday (Sept 17), was written after Brandon Flowers noted the title in a book and remembered some advice give to him by Elton.

"He just said, 'Do you like titles?'... he writes pages of titles before lyrics," Flowers told The Sun.

"I didn't come up with 'Miss Atomic Bomb', but I was reading something about Nevada history shortly after that and that just jumped out."

Adding: "That's such a strong title, a great launching pad."

The Killers recently took to the stage in Camden, London to perform a hit-packed set at the iTunes Festival (Sept 11).

Opening with new single 'Runaways', the Las Vegas star belted out hit after hit, with tracks such as 'Human', 'Mr Brightside' and 'All These Things That I've Done' receiving the biggest cheers of the night.

The show closed with a performance of 'When You Were Young' accompanied by a confetti shower of personalised Killers confetti - shaped like a 'k' and the lightning bolt seen on the front cover of new album Battle Born.
