Chris Moyles has presented his final Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning, thanking fans for their dedication throughout his eight year run.
The often controversial Moyles has been criticised repeatedly during his time on the Breakfast Show and made note of this during his last broadcast earlier today (Sept 13).
Describing today's show as "some weird victory" for "all the flak we've taken", Moyles said "We just got through all of it and here we all are celebrating us, and I'm really proud." Adding: "I'm very proud of everyone on the show, our team have been brilliant, our audience have been brilliant. Thank you to everyone who has listened and supported us."
Nick Grimshaw will replace Moyles on the Breakfast Show and hosts his first programme later in the month. Moyles saw his penultimate Breakfast show out with a celebrity filled programme, featuring Davina McCall, Ant n' Dec and many more, but chose to end his last ever show with just himself and production staff, including sidekick Comedy Dave.
Moyles began presenting the show in 2004, and is contracted to Radio One until New Year 2014, indicating that he will move to a new slot rather than another BBC station. He has also anounced details of a live tour set to take place later in the year.
Since starting his role on the Radio One breakfast show, Moyles hit peak listening figures of 11.82million in 2010.
