Noel Gallagher has announced plans to take a break from music next year, revealing he is keen to avoid following up his solo debut with a bad record.

The High Flying Birds star has used his previous work with Oasis to illustrate how bad a band can be when an album is rushed - his Be Here Now album in particular.

"I'm taking a well earned break after this," he tells XFM. "Why mess with brilliance? I'd only fuck it up. Look what it did to the aftermath of '(What's The Story) Morning Glory?'. Shit on it! 'Be Here Now'?"

Gallagher has critised the album previously, once describing the record as: "the sound of a bunch of guys, on coke, in the studio, not giving a fuck. All the songs are really long and all the lyrics are shit and for every millisecond Liam is not saying a word, there's a fucking guitar riff in there in a Wayne's World stylie."

He also recently spoke of a potential Oasis reunion - claiming it would never happen, not even for the fans, since the band didn't care about them at all during their success.

"I know bands reform and they're bigger than they ever were, and they're more successful than they ever were, but Oasis were one of the biggest bands in the world," he told the NME.

At any given time, we were one of the five biggest bands in the world. We were the biggest thing to come out of England in 35 years. Why would we do it? For the fans? Nobody ever gave a s**t about the fans in that band. It's done."
