HMV has denied the store had any involvement with stickers seen on Chris Brown albums in a London store telling potential buyers not to purchase the album.
A spokesperson for the store has blamed an individual unrelated to the chain and revealed that the labels have now been removed from all copies of the CD.
"It was very much an isolated incident and nothing to do with HMV or representing our views," says a spokesperson for HMV to E! News. "It would appear a member of the public popped into one of our stores yesterday and stickered a handful of CDs.
"These were spotted and quickly removed, but, before we could act, the individual concerned must have taken a photo and sent it to the media. To our knowledge there are no further stickers in our stores now."
A photo of the stickered albums was shared online after a photo was taken in the store in question. The label read: 'Warning - Do not buy this album! This man beats women.'
Chris Brown has enjoyed a successful career and won several awards for his music since the infamous incident in which he beat his then-girlfriend Rihanna as the pair travelled to the 2009 Grammy Awards. He has recently been attempting to make up for his actions by visiting victims of domestic violence.
