My Chemical Romance have revealed that they will be releasing the songs they recorded and subsequently scrapped for their ill-fated 'Conventional Weapons' album in 2009.

Conventional Weapons was recorded by the band following the huge success of their 'Black Parade' album. However, after deciding that the album was not right for the band at that time, they shelved the songs and recorded 2010 album 'Danger Days' instead.

Fans will be now be given the chance to hear the songs recorded for 'Conventional Weapons' from October. The band are planning to release two songs per month for five months, sharing ten songs in total.

Writing in a lengthy blog post, guitarist Frank Iero said: "How can we fully move on if we continue to hide the past? Together we decided that this chapter in My Chemical Romance's history no longer needed to be locked away. "

"So beginning in October we will be releasing 2 songs a month for 5 months. 10 songs in total from the Conventional Weapons sessions we did back in 2009. We hope you enjoy these time capsules, and that they may shed a little more light on how and where Danger Days came from, and maybe even where the future of MCR might be heading."

According to Iero's blog, track listing, release schedule and pre-order details for 'Conventional Weapons' will be released next week.
