It's official - Arctic Monkeys have begun recording the follow-up to their 2011 album, Suck It And See. How do we know? Drummer Matt Helders' mum tweeted about it!

Posting online, Jill Helders tweeted: "I don't know if it helps to clear things up but lads are in the desert!"

She later added: "And now we start on 5th album titles!".

The Sheffield band are rumoured to be moving in a heavier direction on their new songs and could team up with QOTSA man Josh Homme, whom they have worked with before and regularly records in the area. Breaking the news online this week (Sept 17), The Arctic Monkey's US fansite wrote on Twitter that: "Joshua Tree is the place. the wheels are in motion for AM5."

Arctic Monkeys were last seen in the UK when they performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in London.
