The earnings of X Factor boyband One Direction have been revealed - with the five-piece earning £100 million in just two years - with much more being pocketed by Simon Cowell and Sony music.

Harry Styles and co. are followed by screaming girls wherever they go but those same girls are also screaming out to buy CDs, DVDs, tickets and merchandise which have made everyone in One Direction's team very well off indeed.

The news of One Direction's financial might comes from Tom Bower’s new book on X Factor boss Simon Cowell, in which he writes: “Nothing had been left to chance by Sony Music, with the band’s hit album Up All Night selling more than five million copies worldwide.

“The songs, the publishing, the discs, the DVDs, the merchandising and endorsements brought in huge profits, with the group estimated to have earned nearly £100million.  Naturally, Sony and Syco raked in much more.”

Things are only set to get more lucrative for One Direction with a 100+ date world tour in 2013 booked and already sold out and One Direction - The Movie set to hit the big screen next Summer.
