World conquering boyband One Direction performed a cover of Kings Of Leon's classic 'Use Somebody' during their headline set at the iTunes Festival this week. Watch a video of their cover below.
The 2008 No.2 UK hit wasn't the boyband's only cover version in their show, they also tackled 'Valerie' by The Zutons and 'I Gotta Feeling' by The Black Eyed Peas. 'Use Somebody' is popular among young teen stars, with blonde starlet Pixie Lott previously having had a crack at the bleak relationship rock ballad.
Band member Niall Horan played the guitar during the cover version at Camden Roundhouse in London. The boyband covered Oasis' 'Wonderwall' in August 2012.
The free show was packed with squealing female fans, who reportedly made the boyband's stage banter inaudible. Member Louis Tomlinson did manage to say above the din: "We have spent time outside of the UK and it is incredible to be back in London."
One Direction's two-year earnings have been revealed - with the five youngsters raking in £100m between them since their defeat on X Factor in 2010.
The news of One Direction's financial might comes from Tom Bower’s new book on X Factor boss Simon Cowell, in which he writes: “Nothing had been left to chance by Sony Music, with the band’s hit album Up All Night selling more than five million copies worldwide.
“The songs, the publishing, the discs, the DVDs, the merchandising and endorsements brought in huge profits, with the group estimated to have earned nearly £100million. Naturally, Sony and Syco raked in much more.”
Things are only set to get more lucrative for One Direction with a 100+ date world tour in 2013 booked and already sold out and One Direction - The Movie set to hit the big screen next Summer.
