More about:

Convicted murderer Charles Manson has written Marilyn Manson a strange letter from his prison cell.

Manson, whom the 'Beautiful People' musician took his stage surname from, is locked up inside a Californian prison following a spate of murders in 1969.

He recently wrote to his musical namesake on a postcard, which has been leaked online by Loudwire. The message is strange and hard to understand at times, with Charles writing about a non-profit organisation he has established as well as dump trucks, ghost dancers and graves.

An extract from the letter reads:

"To Marilyn Manson, It’s taken me a long time to get there from where I could touch M. Manson. Now I got a card to play – you may look into my non-profit, ATWA, and give Manson what you think he’s got coming for Air, Trees, Water, and you. Or I will pay Manson what you think Manson got coming – the music has make Manson into Abraxas Devil, and I’m SURE you would want some of what I got from what I got. It’s a far out balance."

He continued: "Beyond good and bad, right, wrong. What you don’t do is what I will do – what you did a sing-along, and let it roll and said how you saved me a lot of steps – I don’t need, it’s not a need or a want. Couped – coup. Ghost dancers slay together and you’re just in my grave Sunstroker Corona-coronas-coronae – you seen me from under with it all standing on me. That’s 2 dump trucks – doing the same as CMF 000007. Charles Manson."

Marilyn Manson took half of his stage name from Charles Manson, looking to Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe for his first name. The 'Tainted Love' star was born Brian Warner.

Photos: the most shocking on stage injuries of all time (NSFW)

  • Chris Brown was left bloodied after a bar brawl with Drake, who was reported to have boasted about having sex with Rihanna. But that's nothing compared to other music injuries...

  • The toils of this early Marilyn Manson show are evident in the scratches on his body.

  • Rammstein guitarist Paul H Sanders with a nasty bash to the head at the Gelredome Stadium Arnhem 1 in Holland in 2002.

  • Proof that you should never perform a gig barefooted. Six Nation State bassist John Maskell severed tendons in his left foot after standing on a wine glass during a London show in November 2007. The mound of blood to the right of the photo is grim.

  • The grotesque front cover of Yugoslav extreme punk Satan Panonski's eponymous 1990 album. The shocking image was taken at a live show a year before the record's release. Panonski died early following a life of hardcore living. No surprises there then.

  • In October 2007 Pete Wentz broke his foot while jumping like a maniac during a show in New Orleans. Rather than rush to hospital, he was more concerned with posting this photo of his inured foot on his blog. Nasty.

  • In August 1992 Metallica's James Hetfield accidentally stepped back onto a pyrotechnics rig. Fortunately his guitar shielded him from more serious injuries, but he still suffered second and third degree burns to his arms and hands. Despite his injuries, like a true rock titan, he was back onstage 17 days later. No photos of the incident exist, but as this image from 2004 proves, it hasn't left James with a fear of fire!

  • Madonna crashes to the ground after injuring her ankle during a show at the Paris Bercy in July 2009.

  • She's later photographed limping to her hotel after twisting her ankle.

  • At an Oslo concert in June 2004 a member of the audience threw a lollipop towards human chameleon. Incredibly, the lollipop got stuck in his eye prompted Bowie to halt the gig for ten minutes. Fortunately he wasn't injured and even made light of the situation by throwing a plectrum back in the audience.

  • The late Michael Jackson back in 1984 when his hair caught fire during a Pepsi commercial. The shocking incident allegedly kick-started MJ's decline in health and his addiction to plastic surgery.

  • All female group The Deadly Seven pride themselves on their debauched shows. Although the blood here is fake, it's so macabre anyway we decided to include it.
