John Lydon has admitted he is 'immediately at war' with Universal over their marketing of the recent Sex Pistols re-issues.

The iconic 'Never Mind The Bollocks' album was reissued this week (Sept 24) for its 35th anniversary, something Lydon appreciated. However, he was less of a fan of the label attemtping to get the 'God Save The Queen' single back to number one around the Queen's Jubilee earlier this year.

Speaking to NME, Lydon said: "It wasn't right from the start. I don't mind the records being re-released properly, that's a good thing, but I don't like the vacuous nonsense of trying to create false agendas and pretending to want to be No.1. Hello? Never did nothing for No.1. Not ever. Not in my entire life.

Adding: "What the fuck are you lot thinking of? I'm immediately at war with them on that. It's so ridiculous. They don't realise they're actually killing the f*cking spirit of the thing. This is not KISS."

Lydon went on to claim that he had turned down 'millions of pounds' to reform the band and stated his belief that Universal should have signed PiL instead of the Pistols.
