Nick Grimshaw has revealed that there is no ill feeling between himself and Chris Moyles, despite the fact Grimshaw has replaced Moyles on Radio 1 as they seek to find a younger listenership.
Grimshaw, who started his tenure as Breakfast Show host this week, spoke to the Daily Mirror about his new role and said that there is absolutely no rivalry between himself and Moyles and that the pair actually get on really well.
“I think he thought he wouldn’t get on with me, then we worked together and we fell in love! I love listening to him on the radio and I love him as a pal as well. It’s terrifying taking over that show. It’s been so much easier as he’s been saying nice things.
Grimshaw also went on to state that he has had to curve his social life slightly since getting to job, and now doesn't drink in the week.
“Radio 1 don’t want me to be a hermit. I can still go out, just not get drunk,” he says.
Adding: "The test I wanted was to go out for dinner and not drink, because that’s quite scary. When your friends are all drunk you start to think: ‘Oh my God, they’re all really annoying.’
“I don’t go out as much because there are responsibilities now, and jobs. And I’m old. As long as I’m in bed by 11pm – that’s my curfew. I’ll still go out properly – from 10am on Friday morning straight through until Sunday night.”
